AASLD Seeks Next Editor-in-Chief to Lead Hepatology Communications

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia — February 3, 2026 – The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) invites applications for the next Editor-in-Chief or co-Editor-in-Chief team of Hepatology Communications, its open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing discovery and innovation in liver science. 

Founded in 2017, Hepatology Communications is a monthly, online-only, open access journal that rapidly disseminates impactful basic, translational, and clinical research across all areas of hepatology, including metabolic liver disease, liver cancer, immunology, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, and drug metabolism. The journal publishes original research, reviews, research letters, and protocol papers that advance understanding of liver health and disease. 

AASLD seeks distinguished leaders in academic hepatology who are committed to editorial excellence, scientific rigor, and innovation in scholarly communication. As Editor-in-Chief, the successful candidate will help shape the direction of hepatology research, collaborate with leading investigators and thought leaders, and guide the dissemination of cutting-edge science that informs clinical practice worldwide. 

This high-profile position offers a unique opportunity that combines professional development, influence, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the medical field by publishing and promoting authoritative research and clinical practices. 

The editorial term will run from January 2028 through December 2032. The incoming Editor-in-Chief will assemble an Editorial Board by July 1, 2027, and will begin handling manuscripts at that time.
