Apply to Join the AASLD Women’s Leadership Development Program

The AASLD Women’s Initiatives Committee proudly invites female physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in hepatology to apply for a unique leadership development experience designed to support and advance women in the field. 

This program is dedicated to cultivating leadership skills, with a focus on the distinct challenges and opportunities faced by female practitioners in hepatology. 

Program Overview 

Participants will be paired with a senior AASLD faculty mentor and will engage in bimonthly virtual meetings over the course of one year.  
 
Mentees will also gain exclusive access to interactive webinars tailored to topics identified by the cohort, fostering both professional growth and meaningful connections. 

Who Should Apply? 

We encourage applications from: 

  • AASLD physician members within five (5) years of completing an ACGME-accredited fellowship in gastroenterology or transplant hepatology (North America-based).  
  • APPs within 3–7 years of graduation and currently practicing in gastroenterology or hepatology. 

Eligibility Requirements 

  • To be considered, applicants must: 
  • Be an active AASLD member, 
  • Identify as a female hepatologist (MD/DO) or Advance Practice Provider, 
  • Be based in North America, and 
  • Meet one of the following requirements: 
    • Within 5 years of completing an ACGME-accredited fellowship (MD/DO). 
    • Within 3–7 years post-graduation from a PA or NP program and actively practicing in the field.

Program Commitment 

Selected participants are expected to: 

  • Attend bimonthly virtual one:one mentorship meetings 
  • Participating in an in-person kickoff meeting at The Liver Meeting® in Denver, CO. 
    • Dates: November 5-9, 2026

  • Attendance Sign-Off Form
  • Personal Statement (maximum 1,000 words), addressing: 
  • Your leadership potential and key strengths 
  • Barriers or challenges impacting your leadership advancement 
  • Your leadership goals and how this program will support your growth
