Webinar: Met-HBV: Diagnosis and Management with MASLD in Patients with Chronic HBV Infection
Date : Thursday, January 29, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm (EST)
Moderator: Joseph Lim, MD
Speakers: Swathi Krishnan, MD, Jiyoon Park, MD
This webinar is presented by the HBV SIG Steering Committee and addresses the intersection of MASLD and metabolic syndromes in patients with chronic HBV – an increasingly common issue encountered in clinical practice. This webinar aims to summarize current evidence regarding this relationship and its implications for clinical practice while identifying the best pathway for diagnosis and management.
Addressing several high-priority topics:
-Identification and treatment of MASLD/MASH and comorbid metabolic conditions (DM, obesity)
-Management of chronic hepatitis B
-Practice management for integration of multidisciplinary care
-Use of noninvasive tests (NITs) in risk stratification
Learning Objectives
-Define the epidemiology of MASLD and metabolic syndromes in patients with chronic HBV infection
-Describe how the presence of MASLD and/or metabolic syndromes significantly influence HBV virology, pathogenesis, natural history/clinical courses, clinical outcomes, and virologic responses to antiviral therapies
-Identify appropriate diagnostic tests for MASLD and/or metabolic syndromes in patients with chronic HBV infection-Identify appropriate diagnostic tests for MASLD and/or metabolic syndromes in patients with chronic HBV infection
-Recognize how non-invasive tests (NITs) and/or liver biopsy be used to perform risk stratification and fibrosis staging in patients with both MASLD and chronic HBV
-Describe evidence-based strategies for the management of MASLD and metabolic syndrome in patients with chronic HBV infection
