AASLD Launches Clinical Informatics and Digital Health Special Interest Group to Advance Innovation in Hepatology

Alexandria, VA — The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) announced the launch of its new Clinical Informatics and Digital Health Special Interest Group (CIDH SIG), a member-driven community focused on advancing the use of clinical informatics and digital health to improve liver disease research, care delivery, and patient outcomes.

The CIDH SIG brings together hepatologists, surgeons, advanced practice providers, informaticists, data scientists, and other healthcare professionals committed to leveraging data, digital tools, and emerging technologies to transform hepatology practice.

Through collaboration, education, and innovation, AASLD’s newest SIG will support the ethical and effective integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence, electronic health record optimization, remote monitoring, and patient-centered digital solutions.

“The rapid evolution of digital health and informatics presents enormous opportunity for hepatology,” said Oren Fix, MD, MSC, FAASLD, CIDH SIG Chair. “The CIDH SIG creates a dedicated space within AASLD for members to learn from one another, collaborate across disciplines, and help shape how these tools are applied responsibly and effectively in liver care.”

Key goals of the CIDH SIG include fostering a collaborative community, advancing interdisciplinary research and innovation, offering education and professional development opportunities, and serving as an advisory resource to AASLD on digital transformation initiatives.

“AASLD is committed to equipping our members with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to lead the future of hepatology,” said AASLD President Saul J. Karpen, MD, PhD, FAASLD. “The CIDH SIG reflects that commitment by elevating innovation while keeping patient care, ethics, and patient outcomes at the center.”
