Cardiovascular Risk Categories in Patients With Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and the Role of Low‐Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol

Christian Labenz, Jürgen H. Prochaska, Yvonne Huber, Michael Nagel, Beate K. Straub, Philipp Wild, Peter R. Galle, Jörn M. Schattenberg – 30 September 2019 – Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The current analysis expands the knowledge on atherogenic lipid profiles in NAFLD by modeling changes in low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) and total cholesterol (TC) in a prospectively enrolling real‐life study cohort to inform physicians on the cardiovascular (CV) event risk based on these changes.

Probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG Prevents Liver Fibrosis Through Inhibiting Hepatic Bile Acid Synthesis and Enhancing Bile Acid Excretion in Mice

Yunhuan Liu, Kefei Chen, Fengyuan Li, Zelin Gu, Qi Liu, Liqing He, Tuo Shao, Qing Song, Fenxia Zhu, Lihua Zhang, Mengwei Jiang, Yun Zhou, Shirish Barve, Xiang Zhang, Craig J. McClain, Wenke Feng – 30 September 2019

Biliary Complications After Liver Transplantation From Uncontrolled Donors After Circulatory Death: Incidence, Management, and Outcome

Carlos Jiménez‐Romero, Alejandro Manrique, María García‐Conde, Anisa Nutu, Jorge Calvo, Óscar Caso, Alberto Marcacuzco, Álvaro García‐Sesma, Edurne Álvaro, Roberto Villar, José María Aguado, María Conde, Iago Justo – 28 September 2019 – The utilization of livers from donation after uncontrolled circulatory death (uDCD) increases the availability of liver grafts, but it is associated with a higher incidence of biliary complications (BCs) and lower graft survival than those organs donated after brain death.

Natural History of Recurrent Alcohol‐Related Cirrhosis After Liver Transplantation: Fast and Furious

Domitille Erard‐Poinsot, Sébastien Dharancy, Marie‐Noëlle Hilleret, Stéphanie Faure, Géraldine Lamblin, Christine Chambon‐Augoyard, Hélène Donnadieu‐Rigole, Guillaume Lassailly, Olivier Boillot, José Ursic‐Bedoya, Olivier Guillaud, Vincent Leroy, Georges‐Philippe Pageaux, Jérôme Dumortier – 28 September 2019 – Alcohol‐related liver disease (ALD) is one of the main indications for liver transplantation (LT). Severe alcohol relapse can rapidly lead to recurrent alcohol‐related cirrhosis (RAC) for the graft.

Up‐regulation of miR‐let7a‐5p Leads to Decreased Expression of ABCC2 in Obstructive Cholestasis

Natarajan Balasubramaniyan, Michael W. Devereaux, David J. Orlicky, Ronald J. Sokol, Frederick J. Suchy – 27 September 2019 – Adenosine triphosphate–binding cassette subfamily C member 2 (ABCC2/Abcc2) is critically important to biliary excretion of many endobiotic and xenobiotic compounds, and is a major driving force for bile acid–independent bile flow. Abcc2 expression is reduced at the messenger RNA (mRNA) and protein levels in various forms of experimental cholestasis.
