Cluster of Differentiation 44 Promotes Liver Fibrosis and Serves as a Biomarker in Congestive Hepatopathy

Yosuke Osawa, Hironari Kawai, Tomoyuki Tsunoda, Haruki Komatsu, Miku Okawara, Yuriko Tsutsui, Yuichi Yoshida, Shiori Yoshikawa, Taizo Mori, Taiji Yamazoe, Sachiyo Yoshio, Takashi Oide, Ayano Inui, Tatsuya Kanto – 7 April 2021 – Congestive hepatopathy (CH) with chronic passive congestion is characterized by the progression of liver fibrosis without prominent inflammation and hepatocellular damage. Currently, the lack of reliable biomarkers for liver fibrosis in CH often precludes the clinical management of patients with CH.

Biological Nanotherapeutics for Liver Disease

Julia Driscoll, Cody Wehrkamp, Yu Ota, Jonathan N. Thomas, Irene K. Yan, Tushar Patel – 6 April 2021 – Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are a heterogeneous group of biological nano‐sized vesicles that are released from cells and contribute to intercellular communication. Emerging knowledge about their biogenesis, composition, release, and uptake has resulted in broad interest in elucidating their potential roles in disease pathophysiology.
