HCV kinetics, quasispecies, and clearance in treated HCV‐infected and HCV/HIV‐1‐coinfected patients with hemophilia

Persons with inherited coagulation disorders have high rates of HCV and HIV‐1 infection, but HCV treatment trials in this patient population are scarce.

Fatal GvHD as a complication of liver transplantation for undetermined fulminant hepatic failure and associated aplastic anemia

Furthermore, the association of liver failure and aplastic anaemia has an increased mortality rate. In this report we describe a 16‐month‐old boy who presented with aplastic anaemia preceding a non‐A, non‐B, non‐C fulminant liver failure.

Fluordeoxyglucose positron emission tomography contributes to management of pediatric liver transplantation candidates with fever of unknown origin

Porte, Jan Pruim – 20 October 2006 – Fever of unknown origin (FUO) frequently complicates the management of pediatric patients with terminal chronic liver failure during the pretransplantation period and may lead to increased morbidity and mortality. Nonhepatic origins of systemic infections may render the patient unsuitable for transplantation whereas infections within the liver may require organ resection for a cure.
