Many anesthetic agents are metabolized in the liver. We aimed to determine whether FL impacts recovery from anesthesia as a surrogate for altered drug metabolism. This was a single‐center, retrospective, case‐control study of all adults who underwent anesthesia and concurrent abdominal imaging (n = 2,021) in a hospital setting.

Oderberg, Wolfram Goessling – 12 July 2021 – The liver is innervated by autonomic and sensory fibers of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems that regulate liver function, regeneration, and disease. Although the importance of the hepatic nervous system in maintaining and restoring liver homeostasis is increasingly appreciated, much remains unknown about the specific mechanisms by which hepatic nerves both influence and are influenced by liver diseases.

DESCRIPTION There is currently an anticipated shortage of trained providers capable of diagnosing and treating different liver diseases. As a result of this increased demand and limited specialists in the field, more and more front line providers are faced with these patients and do not have the experience or resources that will allow them to manage them appropriately.
