Chris Mitchell

Chris is our Volunteer Coordinator and a seasoned healthcare reimbursement professional with over 30 years of experience, including the past 15 years dedicated to community health and community mental health centers.<br>She enjoys supporting uninsured and underinsured populations. She is a newly certified SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) Counselor in Indiana, where she assists Medicare-eligible individuals in navigating the complex enrollment process and helps them understand their coverage options.

L. Marie Asad

L. Marie Asad is a patient advocate, community engagement leader and currently services as President of the Friends of the PBC Foundation, NFP., an a transformative organization dedicated to serving those affected by Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), in the United States. Ms. Asad, holds a Master of Arts degree in Gerontology from Concordia University, a Leadership Certificate from the Organizational Leadership Institute and Bachelor of Art degree from Illinois State University.

Esther Caparrós

Esther Caparrós holds a PhD in Biological Sciences and is a Professor of Immunology at Miguel Hernández University in Alicante. She is a member of the Hepatic and Intestinal Immunobiology Group, where she studies the interaction between the immune response and the translocation of bacterial products in chronic inflammatory liver and intestinal diseases. She investigates the molecular and cellular aspects of the immune system responsible for surveillance, response, and regulation of homeostasis in the liver-intestine axis.

Satdarshan P Monga

Dr. Monga is the SVC Endowed Chair in Pathobiology and Therapeutics and Professor of Pharmacology and Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the Chair/Director of the Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute. He is also the director of the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center, an NIDDK P30 funded Digestive Disease Research Core Center and the program director of the Cellular Approaches to Tissue Engineering and Regeneration, NIBIB T32 funded predoctoral training program. He serves as the Associate Dean of Research for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Laurie DeLeve

I happily wear the label of physician-scientist and am on the faculty of Keck Medicine of the University of Southern California. Rather than describing myself, I would rather tell you about some of our research. Since my Fellowship, my basic science has focused on the liver sinusoidal endothelial cell, the LSEC.

Moira B Hilscher

Dr. Hilscher is a Transplant Hepatologist and physician-scientist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She has NIH funding with a K08 Career Development Award with which she investigates the mechanisms of portal hypertension. She has a particular research and clinical interest in vascular diseases of the liver including Fontan associated liver disease.
