Reports of acquired systemic TTR amyloidosis in domino liver recipients have been increasing; however, the precise pathogenesis and clinical course of acquired TTR amyloidosis remains unclear.

Cirrhosis is associated with cell dedifferentiation and expansion of hepatocholangiolar progenitor cells.
