Identification of a MicroRNA‐E3 Ubiquitin Ligase Regulatory Network for Hepatocyte Death in Alcohol‐Associated Hepatitis

Xiude Fan, Jianguo Wu, Kyle L. Poulsen, Adam Kim, Xiaoqin Wu, Emily Huang, Tatsunori Miyata, Carlos Sanz‐Garcia, Laura E. Nagy – 15 March 2021 – We aimed to identify a microRNA (miRNA)‐E3 ubiquitin ligase regulatory network for protein substrates enriched in cell death pathways and investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms in alcohol‐associated hepatitis (AH). An miRNA‐E3 ubiquitin ligase regulatory network for protein substrates enriched in cell death pathways was constructed using integrated bioinformatics analysis.

STE20‐Type Protein Kinase MST4 Controls NAFLD Progression by Regulating Lipid Droplet Dynamics and Metabolic Stress in Hepatocytes

Mara Caputo, Emmelie Cansby, Sima Kumari, Yeshwant Kurhe, Syam Nair, Marcus Ståhlman, Nagaraj M. Kulkarni, Jan Borén, Hanns‐Ulrich Marschall, Matthias Blüher, Margit Mahlapuu – 15 March 2021 – Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has emerged as a leading cause of chronic liver disease worldwide, primarily because of the massive global increase in obesity.

Radiofrequency Ablation Covering the Entire Tumor Blood Drainage Area Improves Survival in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Masashi Hirooka, Yohei Koizumi, Takaaki Tanaka, Kotarou Sunago, Yoshiko Nakamura, Takao Watanabe, Osamu Yoshida, Yoshio Tokumoto, Masanori Abe, Yoichi Hiasa – 15 March 2021 – Hepatocellular carcinoma has been considered to disseminate through the tumor blood drainage area. To improve curation rates, treatment should cover this area as it may contain satellite lesions. This retrospective study aimed to investigate whether radiofrequency ablation (RFA) completely covering the blood drainage area can improve the overall and disease‐free survival.

Patterns of Inpatient Opioid Use and Related Adverse Events Among Patients With Cirrhosis: A Propensity‐Matched Analysis

Jessica B. Rubin, Jennifer C. Lai, Amy M. Shui, Samuel F. Hohmann, Andrew Auerbach – 14 March 2021 – Pain is common among patients with cirrhosis, yet managing pain in this population is challenging. Opioid analgesics are thought to be particularly high risk in patients with cirrhosis, and their use has been discouraged. We sought to understand patterns of opioid use among inpatients with cirrhosis and the risks of serious opioid‐related adverse events in this population.
