Marc G. Ghany

Marc Ghany, MD, MHSc, FAASLD is a Senior Investigator and Chief of the Clinical Hepatology Research Section, Liver Diseases Branch, National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health (NIH).<br>Dr. Ghany's research interests focus on the natural history, treatment and mechanisms of treatment response in chronic hepatitis B and C. He is an internationally recognized leader in the hepatitis B and C field.

Fabien Zoulim

Dr. Fabien Zoulim, MD, PhD is a Professor of Medicine at Lyon I University and Medical Director of the Hepatology Department at the Hospices Civils de Lyon.<br>His research interests focus on the understanding of viral persistence to discover and develop novel treatments to cure chronic HBV and HDV infections.<br>He is Director of the INSERM Unit 1350 PaThLiv "Pathobiology and Therapy of Liver Diseases" and founded the Lyon Hepatology Institute "IHU EVEREST" in 2023 (Center of Excellence label from the French Government).

Robert Perrillo

Dr. Perrillo is an internationally recognized expert in the management of hepatitis B virus. He has over 40 years experience with clinical research of chronic hepatitis B during which time he has made several important contributions in the field of HBV epidemiology, vaccinology, serologic testing, and advances in antiviral therapy. His current research interest focuses on new approaches to post transplant management of patients transplanted for chronic hepatitis B.

Anna Lok

Dr. Lok graduated from the University of Hong Kong Medical School. She completed her hepatology training in London under Dame Sheila Sherlock. She was on the faculty at the University of Hong Kong until she moved to the United States in 1992. <br><br>Dr. Lok's research focuses on natural history and treatment of hepatitis B and C. Her research also includes liver cancer and fatty liver. Harvey J Alter

Harvey J Alter, has been designated a Distinguished NIH Investigator, only one of 23 NIH scientists to hold that distinction. In his long career in clinical research, Dr. Alter has played a key role in the discovery of two hepatitis viruses, namely hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the non-A, non-B virus, later designated the hepatitis C virus (HCV). In long-term prospective studies, Alter helped define the natural history of NANB/HCV infection and proved its frequent progression to chronic hepatitis and its evolution to cirrhosis and liver related mortality. <br><br>Dr.

Robert Gish

Dr. Gish is a fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, the American Society of Transplantation and American College of Physicians. <br><br>He has served on the editorial boards of American Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Digestive Diseases and Sciences, and Gastroenterology, among many others. He co-authored a public health policy for liver health in Vietnam focusing on HBV and is also assisting with the development of viral hepatitis health care policies in Georgia, Armenia, and the Philippines.

Philip N Newsome

Professor Newsome runs the metabolic services at the Liver Unit at King's College Hospital London which includes a large multi-disciplinary clinic for patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). He was Chief Investigator on a randomised controlled trial of Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) therapies in NAFLD published in the Lancet and the NEJM. He is the Co-ordinating Investigator for several global NAFLD studies. He chaired the national guidelines for liver transplantation in NAFLD and sat on the NICE Guideline Development Group for NAFLD.

Robert M Wilechansky

I am a transplant hepatologist at Oregon Health & Science University and a current AASLD CTORA awardee. I completed my gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital. My research interests include dietary, behavioral, and metabolomic influences on MASLD and progression of liver disease. I am a former AASLD Emerging Liver Scholar and Ambassador.

Manal F Abdelmalek

Manal F. Abdelmalek, MD, MPH, FAASLD is a Professor of Medicine, Director of the Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) Clinical Research Program at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. Her clinical and research area of interest has focused on NAFLD / NASH, associated risk factors for disease acquisition and progression and the discovery of novel approaches to treatment.

Vincent Chen

Dr. Chen is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Amherst College, followed by medical school at Harvard Medical School, residency at Stanford Healthcare, and gastroenterology/hepatology fellowships at the University of Michigan (completed June 2020).
