Posttranscriptional destabilization of the liver‐specific long noncoding RNA HULC by the IGF2 mRNA‐binding protein 1 (IGF2BP1)

Monika Hämmerle, Tony Gutschner, Hannah Uckelmann, Sevim Ozgur, Evgenij Fiskin, Matthias Gross, Britta Skawran, Robert Geffers, Thomas Longerich, Kai Breuhahn, Peter Schirmacher, Georg Stoecklin, Sven Diederichs – 31 May 2013 – Selected long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to play important roles in carcinogenesis. Although the cellular functions of these transcripts can be diverse, many lncRNAs regulate gene expression. In contrast, factors that control the expression of lncRNAs remain largely unknown.

Oriol Morales‐Ibanez, Marlene Domínguez, Sung H. Ki, Miguel Marcos, Javier F. Chaves, Eric Nguyen‐Khac, Hakim Houchi, Silvia Affò, Pau Sancho‐Bru, José Altamirano, Javier Michelena, Juan Carlos García‐Pagán, Juan G. Abraldes, Vicente Arroyo, Juan Caballería, Francisco‐Javier Laso, Bin Gao, Ramón Bataller – 31 May 2013 – We identified, in the transcriptome analysis of patients with alcoholic hepatitis (AH), osteopontin (OPN) as one of the most up‐regulated genes. Here, we used a translational approach to investigate its pathogenic role.
