Dendritic cells in hepatitis and liver transplantation

They acquire antigen and process it; then they display it on the cell surface bound in a noncovalent complex with human leukocyte antigen molecules of class I (human leukocyte antigens A, B, and C) and class II (human leukocyte antigen DR).

Although epidemiology of ESLD has recently changed due to the rising prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and the decreased burden of hepatitis C virus infections due to highly effective antiviral regimens, the management of portal hypertension (PHT) remains a clinical challenge in the pre‐ and post‐OLT setting.
